Dear Hydropower & Dams colleagues

We are pleased to announce that AFRICA 2025 will go ahead this year in Ghana, two years on from the previous event in this series, which took place in Uganda in mid-2023.

As some may know, we had originally planned to hold the next Africa conference next year, but were strongly encouraged by friends in the hydro industry, and some financing institutions, not to wait until then!

Therefore we present here a link to our first announcement and Call for Papers, and we very much look forward to bringing together experts from all parts of the world specialising in hydropower, other renewable energy sources, dam engineering and safety, water resources development, environmental and climate issues, and other related fields.

We aim to deliver to the African delegations present: sharing of experience across the various disciplines; information on new technologies and methodologies from other parts of the world; capacity building and training in some specific fields; lessons learned on climate resilience and safety of water infrastructure; and, support in structuring projects to ease the financing process. These are just a few examples of the outcomes to be achieved from constructive discussions during three days of sessions, pre-event workshops, and networking opportunities, all designed to enhance international collaboration.

We invite all who have an interest in helping advance water resources and hydropower development in Africa to join us in Accra from 8 to 10 July; and we welcome the submission of short abstracts as soon as possible, by 20 March.
